What choke would be ideal for shooting trap? My gun club has a big trap shooting group and I'm looking to get involved, but my only real experience with shotguns is slugs for deer hunting and cylinder bore guns in the military. I've found answers to all my questions about trap except what choke to use.

Modified is my lucky choke, I use it for everything. Trap, birds, etc.

Improved Cylinder will break trap targets from the 16 yard mark if you don't dawdle getting on target.

As stated, modified is a good all around choice if you want to back up a bit.

Bud gave you good advice.  



We keep MOD chokes in the guns we use for the kids in our program.  They crush them at 16 yards using 1 oz. Fiochhi cheapies.
