| I picked up a 870 tac last weekend looking to get some shell holders for like the buttstock and the side of the reciever. What are you guys using? |

I gave up the hard mounted shell carriers a while ago.I run the HSGI carriers now.

I went to an over the shoulder 50 round bandoleer. It's great for grab and go quick!

I wasn't a fan of the Mesa Tactical Side Saddle so I bought an Ares Gear Moduloader and love it. Light weight and highly versatile. Is that the one that is secured with Velcro? My only concern with that one is that I would be dumping two rounds of slugs every time the carrier was empty. I am getting ready to trick out my 870 tactical so this thread is very relevant to me. |

Look NO further than Mesa Tactical for your Remington. +1,000 My Mesa side saddle is SOLID. It's the best you can get hands down. Avoid the plastic ones - the holders spread out over time and don't hold the shells as tightly, not to mention they can break. ETA: the velcro holders seem like an interesting idea, I have no experience with them, but from what I hear from other users they absolutely love them. |

I have talked to a couple LE guys, 1 of them is an armorer, and all have said their department used the tacstar ones to save money. The armorer said he has never seen one broken and they all hold shells nice and snug, he has been an armor for 5 yrs and never changed one out. Save weight as well. I assumed the same as you before I read more into them. Yes, they will probably break if you hit them with a hammer when theyr empty, but if they are surviving like they are on duty guns then they are gtg |
| My mesa tac sucks! I have one on my 930 spx and after a few months of holding shells it lost its grip. My cheap ass tacstar on my 500 works very well. Im not gonnabuy a mesa ever again after i contacted their customer service as it was like they only hire retards to work there. I explained my situation 3x and asked for new tension tubes. After 3x i thought the person understood i wanted the rubber tension tube. They sent me a screw set. Save your money, buy a tacstar it works better. |

I dont like the elastic shell holders always had problems with them stretching over time. |
I have The GG&G on my 870
