Ive been wanting a semi auto shotgun for a while and I think I want either a M2 or SLP. Any reason to get one over the other? I'm leaning towards the Benelli with Inertia Driven action, but the FN seems really popular in the 3 gun crowd.

I have owned both and prefer the FN SLP which I still own, due to lighter recoil.

I have a super 90 and an FN and I also like the fn better,  it is my perception that it cycles faster.  both are excellent shotguns

And I am a fan of the Benelli M2. All things being equal the inertia system will have more felt recoil than a gas gun-  but I prefer the lighter front weight / balance and the reliability (less cleaning required) of the Benelli.

Maintain them properly and use ammo that is suited to the gun and either one will be a good choice.

Is getting both an option?

I have an m4 which has since been converted to collapsible stock. It's my favorite shotgun.

I like how the Benelli is lighter then the FN but the trade off is slightly more recoil.

I can deal with recoil more then I can having to swing around a heavier shotgun.

That being said I own a M2 Tactical that I got for a awesome deal.

I have an M1 and an SLP, the only additional comment I would make is that the Benelli is more succeptible to "limp wristing" If you don't shoulder it properly it doesn't cycle reliably.  The FN's gas operation is more reliable in that respect, although, not perfect.......but way better.

In a perfect world we'd mount the gun perfectly every time, but in a perfect world we'd never have to defend our family with a shotgun in the first place.

I couldn't decide, so i bought both.

I am an SLP owner and recently bought a Versa max tactical.  I would recommend taking a hard look at the Remington.  It's very soft shooting.
