Sorry if this question is asked alot; I promise that I read a lot.  I'm leaning toward an Elzetta side mount with Surefire polytac.  I have this nagging idea that a large area would not be illuminated.  Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I have the Elzetta and Streamlight mounted on an 870. Took it out Saturday night and shot i the dark. I could see the targets but did not notice any "barrel shadow"...let me get home tonight and snap a few pics from POV with the light on in the dark.

Attaching a rail is a good option in my opinion...I went with the Elzetta because it was quick and easy...and I wanted a 1" diameter LED using two CR123 batts...so, the Amazon package worked for me.

As promised, here is a pic of the Elzetta side mount and the Streamlight Polytac LED...I took the picture to show the barrel shadow only. The barrel really does not create much of blockage. Really liking the simplicity of this setup.

Barrel shadow always bugs me with bottom mounted lights. I use a BMT side mount with a Streamlight TLR-1S.
