Shotguns mates . Help me decide what bolt carrier release to order for my new M4 GG&R or Arrendondo . or any other i'm not aware of. |

GG&G is good to go. It is a factory release that they modify. There are other setups where you must drill and tap your own unit. Several have FUBAR'ed the job and end up going to GG&G anyway.
I have well over 10,000 rounds on my M4 with the GG&G unit installed. It has never shaken loose. Worst case scenerio, if the oversized pad does falll off, you can still operate the release. The remaining nub is about the same size as the stock button. Look at the spring placement of your bolt release before you disassemble the unit. Once you remove the pin, you won't be sure where it goes exactly. Make sure you have a good set of roll punches before you attempt the job or you'll scratch up your receiver. I do not recommend the GG&G bolt handle. It weighs over twice what the factory bolt handle does. The issue isn't concern about adding weight to the weapon, the concern is you're adding weight to the moving carrier. When I had the GG&G unit installed, I could feel and hear the carrier moving more sluggishly. Stick with factory or below factory weight bolt handles. The best option out there is the carriercomp titanium bolt handle. You'll get tthe size you want, reduced weight and a properly made part that won't wear out over time since his uses a steel tang rather than soft titanium. |
