Any experience with these?  They look wicked, and the marketing propaganda sounds good.  Just curious if there is any advantage to these over other slugs...for defensive purposes.

I'm glad you asked- I was wondering the same thing...

In for an education on these slugs.  They do look promising.

Nobody?  Surely somebody has something.

For shooting people in scary and defensive situations, practice with your intended ammo is key. Lots of practice and hundreds or thousands of rounds. You've got to know exactly where your gun is going to put the round every time.

I just don't see the need for 12 gauge boutique slugs against humans. A plain 'ol standard name brand 1oz slug at 50 or less feet would more or less ruin someone's day.

Practice will be a LOT cheaper at .50 /slug...

At indoor distances, ANYTHING coming out of a 12ga is gonna put them down.  Maybe not for keeps, but it will.   Anything bigger than BB, assuming a center hit, and they're not armored, they probably won't ever get up.

Agreed with the last two posts.  I have sent several hundred rounds of full house 00 buck downrange through my defensive shotguns, and 00 9 pellet will remain my primary load.  However, I do believe in using the best in terminal performance.  So, if these slugs perform better than traditional slugs, then that's what I'll buy.

Hopefully somebody who has used them will chime in.

You can make a case for - don't spend extra money/ buy cheap ammo/ and practice practice practice-  in response to almost every thread on AR15.com. It is a safe, reasonable and conservative position.

IMO if this stuff performs well, I want it. I will use it and I will spend some extra money practicing with it too. If I was really worried about spending extra money, I would have stopped with my first purchase, a Mossberg 500 Cruiser on my 18th birthday oh so long ago. But NO, I keep buying shotguns, ARs, AKs, AOWs, cans etc because this is my favorite thing to do. I have a disease and this ammo can help me.

I do still keep the Mossberg under my bed and if there is some ammo that can f-up a bad guy who comes in my home just a little more than a standard 1oz slug for a few more dollars, I want some for practice and defense.

I would also spend the extra money for this ammo if it is warranted.  I use 1 ounce slugs in my shotguns as I can hit consistently offhand an empty milk jug at 50 yards with all of them.  I like the extra precision I have over buckshot as I want to make sure the projectile hits the target and doesn't go off and hit a neighbor's house since I live in a subdivision.
If this ammo expands like the pictures show then it would indeed be worth the extra expense to me as that would seem to lessen the chance of overpenetration.

I have seen either that picture or one similar but I would like to see one after it was fired into gelatin or a game animal.  If they expand like that then they will be my new HD ammo.

Thanks for posting those videos.  I definitely want some for my one shotgun that has a choke as I just don't feel good firing regular slugs in a choked barrel.

The recoil is very low on these shells as well. Similar to 2 3/4 buckshot. They seem very destructive on a few simple tests I've done.

They were supposed to send me a sampling of their selection for an article, but that was almost 3 months ago.
