Will these current models allow you to "Float" the extra shell? Thanks in advance! Excellent!

Also called "Ghost loading"

I have read that it can be done without mods, although I have not tried it myself. I have heard that the later model M2's cannout unless you mod the bolt.

I have a circa '96 HK Import that I can Ghost Load giving me 5+1+1 without any extension

As an owner of an M4, yes you can. 7+1+1.

Yep, 7 in the tube, one in the chamber and one ghosted. And they all go bang every time without failure. The M4 is a awesome shotgun!

The USMC M1014 Operator's Manual actually has instructions on how to load the lifter, so yes, all M4s can do this.

Yep, its a 9-shot - I keep mine bedside ghost-loaded with the safety on.

As a side note –– I find it hard to ghost load in the "field" when I'm reloading fast from behind cover - guess its do-able w/ more practice.

Ghost loading is intended as a loading practice, not a reloading practice. Reloading in the middle of a gunfight, the benefits of that one extra round are wholly outweighed by the time and lack of fine motor skills it takes to do it.  You could really jam up the gun trying to use such fine motor skills while being shot at.

Load out with the +1, reload to the tube.
