I had a set of the scattergun tech. ghostring sight installed on my 870 buy my local gunsmith. He used the epoxy method to install the front sight. HE used the enclosed epoxy.

I was curious haw strong this method was?

also any problem with the rear sight holding zero?

I've installed a few (maybe 20+) of those sight sets over the years. I've never had anyone come back with a loose or missing sight.

I do add a cross pin on the epoxied front sight (as does Wilson Combat). A properly drill and tapped rear (ie. no loose threads or oversize holes) with a little blue Loc-tite will stay secure, but like any screw you'll want to check it periodically to make sure its tight (better to be safe than sorry)

Mine is unpinned and epoxied...10 years plus and it's still there.

I'm concerned that I won't be able to remove it when I need to get another with a new tritium vial.

The rear sight got adjusted once and hasn't budged.

that makes me feel a little better. I would be curious if wilson combat had a problem with the sight coming off and thats why they pin them.

Probably a "just in case" precaution.

I can see the pin adding strength to the bond if you repeatedly bang the front sight against something solid
