I recently finished my Wingmaster project, turning a decent bird gun into a HD gun, and I took it out to the range. I couldn't find any Low Recoil ammo at any of my local shops, so I just got some Remington Express #9 00 buckshot to shoot with. Well as I'm sure you guys know, that stuff kicked like a mule. Now maybe it's because I haven't shot 12GA in a very long time and I'm just not used to the recoil, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just the rounds I was using. So what do you guys use when practicing at the range?
FWIW, the full powered loads kept knocking off my glasses when I was at the range and made me look like an ass. I'd rather not have that happen again. |

I typically practice with birdshot, either AA, STS, or promo loads. For cheap low-recoil buck for practice, I picked up a case of Rio from Ammo To Go, but I use that less than the birdshot.
Recoil can be exacerbated if the stock doesn't fit you properly. Are you using a traditional stock? |

Thanks for the input. I'll be on the look out for birdshot. |
