Not sure if anyone is still making them...

Looking for a bolt action, detachable magazine fed 12 gauge "slug gun", ala Browning A-bolt and similar models (Marlin, etc)

A plus would be given to any that have synthetic stocks and a price point around $500.  I'm already looking for used, but was curious as to anything new out there.  My search-fu must be weak or there is little desire for them these days...

Thanks for any input.

Great except the 12 gauge aspect.  The Model 220F is 20 gauge.  If it were 12, I would purchase it.

Any others?

That is starting to look like my best route...thanks for the response.  I'm told they are easier to find when they aren't snatched up in states where center fire rifles are not allowed to be used for taking deer...

Here on Long Island we kill lot's of deer during the January shotgun only season.

With the new 20 gauge buck hammers, copper solids and plenty of other premium slugs 20 gauge is all you need.

Mike:

For hunting deer, your point is taken.  My purpose is more work related.  I had the opportunity to see some custom bolt action 12 gauge shotguns do some impressive penetration demonstrations.

Your going to use it for cop work?

In a sense, yes.  It will be a demonstration platform.  I had the opportunity to fire some 12 gauge special purpose rounds recently.  Penetration through various barriers was impressive.  Think really light armor or vehicle penetrating rounds.  The weapons used to demonstrate the rounds were custom built bolt action shotguns - well out of my personal capabilities for purchase.

Not every agency can afford a .50 caliber rifle, but specialty rounds do provide improved penetration compared to traditional rifle rounds that would be typically found in a medium to smaller PD.

A bolt action is not going to give any penetration advantage over a plain pump gun like an 870..

Nor was it my intent to imply or state such.  The penetration comes from projectile shape and materials as well as the shell casing design.

The bolt action provides stable accuracy via a rifled barrel which is threaded into the receiver, as apposed to a smooth bore with choke or even rifled barrel attached via 870 and other pump action sg's.

Nothing states that the rounds can't be fired out of a pump or semi-auto; however I am looking for a bolt action as previously described.

Thank you though for pointing this out as I may not have been clear why the bolt action platform is what I require.
