| any reason why I shouldn't buy one? I would be just using it to try out 3 gun, not HD. |

I have one, and like it. I also have 3 870's, and the Hawk 982 is as good. I took the 982 apart down to the nuts and bolts and cleaned / degreased everything before use. The receiver plate was loose, and needed to be loctited, as the rest of the screws. Replaced the spring with a Wilson Combat, and I had an extra wood stock set laying around: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c341/Brauer/Hawk982.jpg That looks great! Is it parkerized or matte blue? Where can you get parts for these?? |

Where can you get parts for these?? I'm pretty sure all 870 parts except the barrel fit the Hawk shotguns. My forend tube was too large for the Speedfeed forend I wanted to install, so I had to buy a factory 870 forend tube assembly ($22) and it dropped right into the receiver with no issue. Other people have not had this problem though, so I'm assuming my gun is from an earlier run as I got it in 2006. But other than that: - 870 Big Head safeties fit - 870 stocks fit - +1 Wilson extensions fit flush (but like the 870 Express, the Hawk has magazine tube dimples that need to be removed, and +2 extensions extend past the barrel) - Side Saddles fit And I am reasonably sure that almost all 870 internals will fit as well, but I have never tried. The front bead is some kind of metric thread though, so if you want to install an aftermarket 6-48 or 5-40 bead you need to get the hole enlarged and retapped. |
