| i have a relative in afghanistan currently, and they are getting custom engraved rifles. well, they want one of these also (they know about NFA rules). Whos got a good price for a group buy? |
|
Autoweapons has them in stock albeit it looks pricey. I don't know what the actual MSRP on the thing is. |

Hey Gravity, are these for civilain sales? That is certainly contray to what Remington says. A call to them will get the same response "LE and Government Restricted", I can see them lifting that restriction and not telling the LE Instructors so finding out would be great. I got a stern lecture about this when I bought some MCS parts a few years ago and since I did not want to bite the hands that feeds me, I do not deal in these except for LE sales only.

J.D., there's no telling how AutoWeapons got ahold of them. He specializes in hard to find & exotic Title II firearms. He commands a pretty penny on everything he sells, but he also stocks a lot. It takes a little bit of looking around to find MCS parts; they usually come through a police/tactical wholesaler who apparently has not gotten the same lecture as you have. All I know for a fact is if you call Remington to order a MCS part, it will show up as restricted and no one will waive the requirement. Who knew a forend assembly could be such a dangerous restricted item? FWIW, I've seen a handful of MCS shotguns for sale in the past year. But it's just that, a handful. The complete kit runs about $2500, and the base breacher shotgun commands $800-$1300 depending on condition (not to mention you need to live in a state where you can buy Short Barrel Shotguns or Any Other Weapons). I'm positive Remington's cost is substantially less as they contracted to the US Gov't to the tune of about $1250 a system, but their draconian civilian sales policies and limited supply drive the price up. I heard a rumor Remington was going to start filtering out some of the breacher models as the 870LW where they replaced the QD stud for quick stock assembly with a regular receiver stud, but I haven't seen too many of those for sale. OP, if your cousin wants one, either SBS or AOW model, they will have to follow the rules for Title II firearms transfers set forth by the BAFTE and your state, namely transfer of SBS/AOWs. You can't buy this shotgun with the 18" barrel as a normal Title I firearm. If you want a "group buy", you'll need to have a Class III dealer local to you arrange for the transfer in of the MCS breachers/kits on Form 3s, then the individuals can complete the Form 4 (including local law enforcement's signature) and submit the form to the ATF. There's no special consideration for whether it's your 1st or 50th transfer, Secret/Top Secret security clearance, etc. If your cousin is a trustee on your trust, you could transfer the MCS to you via trust and allow your cousin to "borrow" the assets of the trust. Edited to cleanup spelling. |
| For true. You would not believe how blown up the issue became. Later, I tried to get an MCS forend, might have been for you, I was questioned if it was for a Department or Agency weapon. Well, I don't lie and of course when I said no, well, you know the rest. Don't understand the issue, these are just 870's with a three shot tube and a bunch of mess to change out on them if you want to. I also predict with the "Mega Corporation" owning Remington now, that things will change and the only requirement to get these weapons will be if you have the money. |

Quoted: so what you are saying is that its not going to be easy nor cheap. Yes, even getting the blade tech holster for the MCS is difficult. We had a LEO here a few months ago post on this forum who was trying to get that holster. He even had some love letters from his department, but he still had a hard time getting it. |

so what you are saying is that its not going to be easy nor cheap. You forgot a word: fast. It will not be cheap, easy, or fast for your cousin to get a Remington 870 MCS system. Doable, yes. But it will be expensive, require Title II firearm ATF paperwork, and wait for approval. The process isn't impossible, but it will take some work on your cousin's part. On the flip side, your cousin will have bragging rights if they follow through and get a MCS |

My son got issued this one in Baghdad in 04'. I did get a chance during Thanksgiving to play with it on the range. Later in 05' I inquired a Rem rep at Benning about them releasing them to the civilian market with applied Title II or III, and not now was the answer. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/shorty_list.JPG http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/shorty_4_cased.JPG http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/shorty_3.JPG http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/shorty_2.JPG CD CD- Good to see you again! You have some cool pictures. I remember seeing some cool stuff, and I thought it was you (IIRC, you briefly had/recovered the StG-44 that looked awesome but with only about 60 rounds of ammo - and wasn't your son OPFOR at Robin Sage?) |

This is what I have.... the base breacher like this photo. I did not get the complete set. |
