| I have a Remington 870 Wingmaster 16 gauge with an improved barrel. There's a stamp of BXX on the side which I think tells me it was born in January of 1951. I'd say it's in very good condition. I don't know much about shotguns. Would this be more of a collectors item? Can anyone tell me what the value might be? |

If it's in minty condition(or near it), it's probably more of a collector gun––especially if it's one of the better grade guns instead of a utility grade field gun.
IIRC, I gave $80 for my 50's production 16 gauge...but it was in really rough shape. The only Wingmasters I've seen sell for more than about $250 here are trap guns with the high vent rib/double bead barrel and the monte carlo trap stock. |

Quoted: The bottom grade guns had a corncob fore end and smooth walnut stock...good wood, but very plain. Mine is just like the one linked but with an improved barrel and in WAY better shape. Mine has no rust anywhere. The wood is in very good condition with only a few minor hunting scratches and the bore is like a mirror. My Dad paid about $50 for it in the 70's from a guy he worked with and I've had it for about 10 years. Neither of us have shot it. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=163690990 Not sure if I should link hot so I'll just leave it cold.
