Hey folks,
I have 2 questions about the FN SLP Shotgun. 1. I have read in several places that this shotgun makes 8 rounds, but in the FN page clearly states this: "Ammunition Capacity: 6+1 with 2-3/4” shells". As I undestand this means 6 in the mag and 1 in the chamber = 7 rounds. Where does the 8th round goes? 2. I read as well you can install a Nordic +1 mag extension. From the following page, which one fits the SLP? http://www.cactustactical.com/osc/shotgun-accessories-c-412_458.html My guess is the one for Win SX2/SX3. Please confirm. Any help will be greatly appreciated as Im getting ready to place an order for one. Best, TD |

Yeh, I meant the capacity was 6+1+1 in the other post. It's kinda tough to figure out how to do, but once ya got it, it's not too hard, sa
That's the mag extension for it, I been thinking about getting one, but there's a bit of a problem with the 18 inch model.......you can't clamp the tube on very well. To put the extension on, you have to remove the spring retainer/cap detent thing.....it holds the cap on the tube from the underside. Once it's gone the only thing holding the mag tube extension is the torque you screwed it on with. I suppose that you could add an extended choke tube, and put a clamp on it and the extension. |

You can load eight into the 18 inch by doing what's called the "Ghost" or "Floater" load. It's done by having 1 in the chamber, 1 on the lifting tray, and 6 in the magazine. I didn't realize you could do that with a FN. I used to do that with my Benelli. Thanks for the info. |

I just thought of another little detail about the capacity of the FN.
It holds 6 in the mag tube.......it does. 6 folded/pie/star crimped shells. Rolled crimp shells are longer so you get 5 in it. This is a bummer because alot of cheap buckshot is rolled. Sellier & Bellot and Nobel are, with an OAL of 2.487" Remington and Federal buck is folded and about 2.315" Most bird shot is folded also. The stack of shells is .860" longer. .....and is the difference between 5 shells and 6 in the mag tube of the FN. Never really cared, till I noticed my Benelli holds one more in the same length gun as the SLP and my Remington 870s. I will hold 9 total. Since then It's annoyed me a bit. |
