I have the stock mag extension which is kind of pinched on the end. I have read here that there is a rem mag extension that is the same circumference all the way to the end. Does anyone know the part # and a good place to pick one up? Thanks in advance.

Mag extension for 870? or  11-87?     What gun do you have?    Are you talking about the dimples on an 870 Express factory mag tube?   If so.. There is a sticky at the top of the page on how to remove them so you can add an extension.

If you are talking about the Remington factory extension that has a clamp and also steps down near the end, there are several makers of extensions that don't have them.   Wilson being one.

Hope that helps some

All the Remington factory extensions have the reduced diameter on the end.
Originally, the Remington extension was also used as a bayonet mount and the reduced section was to fit the ring on a bayonet.

If you want an extension without the reduced section, you'll have to buy an entire new extension kit.
The Remington is one of the best on the market, so I suggest staying with it.

I'll second this.  All the Remington extension kits I've handled or seen had a reduced diameter end.  Something like a Choate or a Wilson Combat extension does not.

I remove the Remington tube extension kits of the guns I buy to build on and then parkerize them or sell them in matte finish.  Anything to get them out of the shop because they are junk.  That Freaking bracket mars your barrel down to bare steel on both sides and if not careful you will scractch the barrel every time you remove it.  I only us them on one of my builds when the client insist on it.

I feature the Wilson Combat as it is the best value on the market.  It has a stand alone mag tube coupling, a better spring and a true combat follower.  The tube is thicker then the Remington and will stand up to being struck or dropped better,  No barrel bracket is needed and you can get one anywhere for only $45 instead of the Remington 2 round parkerized extension which is $111 from Brownells and Remington will not even sell you one.  According to Remington, Brownells is susposed to restrict sales to LEO only but they don't and they get away with it.

So the Remington is not the best on the Market as it is not on market and only availible for LEO sales.  I only get away with selling them because they are gun smith take offs and I can not order one from Remington and sell to a civilian as I am an Aurtherized Remington Parts Dealer and signed a limited sales agreement to that effect.   Yes, I know they are susposed to lift that restriction and I was told that two years ago.  Call monday and try to order one and you will find they are not on the market but still restricted sale.   Then go to Brownells, Midway or anywhere else and get a Wilson Combat, you will thank me later.

Click on the Brownells sponsor link above or use this link.  Part numbers you requested.
Brownells Mag tube extension selection

Also note.   If you are going to add a dedicated Surefire Forearm such as the 618, you'll not want the sling swivel underneath the tube but on the side.  The light is under the tube.

I'm sure you can sell your mag extension to someone on here to fund your new extension.
