Does the the Surefire forend take a proprietary light, or would a regular 6P or G2 work in there?
We have some Surefire forends that were given to us, sans lights, and was wondering how to cost effectively get some light in them so they can get put on the guns ( Mossberg 590s) |
| The light is made for the forend so the none of the other hand helds or weapons lights will fiit. You can contact Surefire and obtain the lights as that would be considered parts and they sell parts for all their systems. You can also upgrade to the LED as the forends are the same. |
| And how is it that the body of the Suirefire forend holds one battery and the light holds one yet your two cell 6P which in its self holds two somehow fits it. I don't understand how yours work but all the ones I have installed which is hundreds and all the ones I have in stock do not......I am a Surfire dealer, feature these lights on my wepaons and would like to know how you made this converstion as it may be benificial to me to know this when I am unable to do it. I have a 918FA on one of my weapons and will see if your idea works with that as it does hold 3 batteries. |
| Which makes how these guys made this work all the more interesting. I am a surefire dealer and know about these lights and gave the guy who posted this the best information I have but other guys indicated I was wrong, so I want to know how they did this as I want to learn things to. Matching up different thread, running 9V throgh 6V lamps, I want to know all these tricks so I can give the correct answer next time and not look foolish giving wrong answers. So guys, please give us the details of the modifications you made to get the flash lights to work in a dedicated weapons light system. |

I think it was still between 80-100 lumens but dont remember exactly. There will also be a new 2 battery unit that is essentially the same as the single, just a little longer.
Both were very impressive. I got to see an outdoor side by side comparison and there was not much difference. These were very low profile, low weight, had an excellent throw and good run times. |

Well, a G3 and 9P won't have the same threads will they? Can you put a tailcap from a 9P on a G3? 9P, and G3 along with 6p and G2 all have the same threads. I have a z59 tailcap that I switch around on them. Good to know, thanks! I think the new low-profile forend would be sweet on an SBS! I'm waiting!! Surefire?? Where is it!? |

I have the 618 on my patrol shotgun which uses 2 batteries. The light tube is the same as my 6P tube & I can switch both back & forth if I want. You can take a 6P tube & but the shock bezel on it & use it on your surefire & have what they would sell you. There is a single battery model but I don't believe it is very popular. It's what Ving Rhames used in the newer "Dawn of the Dead" movie a couple of years ago. There's also a 3 battery model that uses the 9P body. |
