All low brass rounds? I wouldn't worry too much. Hope you are happy with your choice of SG's.

Did you clean the gun before you fired it?  Mossberg uses some pretty severe preservative on these guns and it really needs to come off.

+1 ALWAYS clean & oil the gun before you shoot it. It doesn't matter what gun it is, almost every manufacturer puts anti-rust chemicals in their barrels/actions before shipping.

Shoot some good ammo and you will have zero problems I bet

Congrats on a nice shotgun.  I finally got mine out to the range today.  I shot some Win SuperX 00 3 inchers and I am feeling it now.  Definately no front sight post issues with mine.  After about 4 clicks left it was shooting on target.  I am going to take it tomorrow again and try some #1 2 3/4 Remmingtion.  I cleaned the snot out of mine and oiled it up good prior to shooting.

Seems like once you get a few hundred rounds through a new shotgun that a lot of problems will work themselves out.  Sometimes its just a small burr left from manufucaturing of the gun that just needs to get smoothed out.

I took my new 930 out to the range for the first time yesterday as well.  I have the home defense/field combo.  Test below was with the 18" home defense barrel.

I forgot to clean it ahead of time so I sprayed some WD40 in the action on location to make sure the cycling parts were at least lubricated.  Yes, WD40.  I brought a crate of misc shells from the 40s/50s/60s that were inherited from my dad and grandpa - including paper shells that have been stored in a garage as long as I've been alive.  All field and sport loads.

249/250 fired and cycled the shotgun.  The single FTE was because I wanted to see what would happen if I fired without the butt supported by my shoulder in my first gas operated semi-auto shotgun.  All the shells fired full power!

10/10 Ranger LE OO Buck low recoil

10/10 Ranger LE Slug low recoil

This gun has very minimal recoil and I felt no significant difference between the field loads and the slugs.  Double taps on target were super easy and for the first time in my life shooting a 12ga wasn't punishing.  My other four 12ga consist of pumps, SxS, and O/U.  I have some full power 00 buck and slugs [Walmart special] I'll be comparison testing next time along with a few of those 100 count value boxes of 7 1/2 shot.

The only thing I disliked about this weapon is that the loading gate pinches my thumb when pushing a shell in.  If I'm slow and careful I can avoid it, but in a "situation" re-load I'm positive I'd get my thumb snagged bloody good on the gate.  User error I assume.  Any tips?

Now I just need an extension tube and an easier to see fiber optic front sight on the 18" barrel as this is replacing my Maverick 88 18" as my home defense long gun.  Can I safely keep one in the chamber with the safety on at my bedside?  I've never kept one in the chamber in my Maverick for some reason, plus I dislike the Maverick's safety because it's near the trigger.

I find that it helps if you bend your thumb when loading and let your knuckle slide on the loading gate, that way when you pull your thumb out the knuckle is still holding the gate down and you can get the rest of it out of there no problem.

My 2 cents

Have a 930SPX for almost 2 years now. Shot over 1500 shell thru it. Bird/Slug/Buck, brand/price, didn't matter It ate it all and has NOT failed ONCE. Not once.

Cleaned the f*ck of it out of the box. Oiled the f*ck out of it. Cycled the bolt a few hundred times before the 1st round went thru it. Cleaned it again, less oil. Added the Choate PG, bolt handle,  and mag ext.

Love it!
