Just curious how good this Vang Comp system is, if you have a VC, please post your normal pattern size. Include distance, load used, and short discription of what VC weapon you own. Avoid posting Flight Control patterns as those prove nothing about the VC.

Had Hans Vang do his VC system on my 11-87 HD a few years ago.  I took some digital pics of before and after and posted the results here.  Has been long lost since then.  I did save a few of the better patterns out of the gun.  What I've found with the VC system over the past few years:  Cheap Wallmart ammo patterns much better.  Federal FC does not benefit at all with VC.  Can buy alot of ammo for the $200+ VC charges for their work.

Here is one of the better patterns I got out of my 11-87 VC the day I tested it.  I ran a multitude of ammo thru it that day, and was surprised by this:

Remington Express 3 inch 00 Buck w/15 pellets at 15 yards:

Remington Express 3 inch 00 Buck w/15 pellets at 25 yards:

Sorry, don't have the measurement, but the box-top is 3 inches for reference.  I'm sure the pattern is tight enough to be very effective at the distances listed.  HTH and hope to see other's pics.

Hrmmm, looks very similar to what I am getting out of my M4 from what I remember.

I have 1 round of 15-pellet OO that I will test at 25 yards this weekend. THe rest of my ammo is 2.75". I will see how it compares.

If you're not in a rush, I have a Hans Vang 870P shotty.  I also have a Benelli M4.

When I get home in 12 days, ( I work remote), I'll shoot both, at the same distance, with the same loads and post pics.

870P with 18.5" VCS ported barrel:

Distance was 50 feet.

Federal Power Shok 9 pellet 00Bk 2-3/4" = 8-3/4"
Federal Vital Shok 9 pellet 00BK with Flite Control Wad = 7-1/4"
Federal Vital Shok 12 pellet 00BK 2-3/4" = 5-5/16"
Remington 8 pellet managed recoil 00BK 2-3/4" = 12-1/2" due to 3 flyers as the other 5 were in 3-1/4"
Remington 9 pellet 00BK 2-3/4" = 7-3/4"
Remington 16 pellet 1BK 2-3/4" = 10-1/4"
Remington 8 pellet 000BK 2-3/4" = 9-1/2" group with 5 in a 1.5" group
Winchester Ranger 8 pellet 00BK 2-3/4" = 5-1/4"
Winchester Winlite 9 pellet 00Bk 2-3/4" = 5" with 6 of those in a 2" group

Not in a rush, but I plan on matching the choke to the load with my M4. I am sure the Vang will pattern better than the M4 wiht the stock constriction Benelli choke using regular loads, but I have put around 50% of the payload in a 14" circle consistantly at 50 yards with my current setup on my M4 using it's preferred buckshot.

I think you're correct on the tighter patterning on Han's versus the normal choke on the M4.

It was at Gunsite in the 260 class, that I started with my Benelli, and finished using a Van Comp 870.

Just from my own observation, I found that I had a tighter pattern with Hans's shotty than my own.

That's what led me to have him do the back bore, porting and all of his other little tricks to an 870P that I sent him.
