Hello,
My 18.5 590A1 has a problem where the shells get hung up while i am loading them in the tube. If i pull back the shell I am trying to load, kind of like a reset, it allows the shell to go in. Is this a follower issue? The tube does not look bent at all. Thanks for your help. |

Try cocking the gun, then trying to load them
Sometimes if I pull the forend rearward just a tiny bit, the lifter makes it hard/impossible to load the shell into the tube. But if I cock the gun first, the pump doesn't move so I can load without issue. Granted, was on an 870 so I am not positive it would be the same for a Mossberg as I do not own one. Nice choice on the 590 though. |

First, you gotta jam the shell in the mag tube hard & far. To the point that your thumb goes into the mag tube a bit. Yeah, the gun will pinch, scrape and occasionally nick you. Man up, it's a combat shotgun!
To see if your follower is binding, disassemble the gun and drop the follower through the mag tube. If it binds at all, anywhere along its travel, fix that. I usually replace the OE follower with a hi-vis plastic one. I also always recommend a Wolff +power mag tube spring, ESPECIALLY for Mossberg shotguns which come with notoriously weak mag tube springs. I usually buy a 10-pack from either Midway or Brownells, whoever has them in stock at the best price. You can sell the extras to friends and on the net to recover your investment. Also make sure there are no big burrs on the two thingies (can't think of their names) that hit the head of the shell to keep it in the mag tube. |

It was the elevator assembly tang that was catching the rim of the shells as I was loading them. HMMM, never had this issue with my maverick or remington. I must learn the new Manual of arms for this shotty. I got the same problem with my new 590A1. I'm sure it will break in with repeated shooting and loading just like my Maverick 88 did. |

Cartrige stop and cartrige interrupter are the 2 thingies |
