| This may have been addressed before, but I am getting sick of it on my shotty now. I have an 870 Express Tactical (hence the title of the thread) that has a rather annoying habit. If the magazine tube is full (6 rounds) and I rack the shotgun, a round jumps out of the receiver, and the second round loads in the chamber. If I had a spent round in the chamber, then the empty and the first live round from the tube eject, and the second round chambers. This only happens if the magazine is chock full. Anyone care to lay out a theory? I know the quick answer is "well, just keep 5 rounds in the tube, silly," but I would kind of like the opportunity to keep 6 rounds loaded. |

+1. Call Remington.
Their QC has been kinda crappy lately, and an excellent illustration of why no type of gun should be trusted to "go bang every time" until you've tested it yourself. Their warranty support, however, is usually terrific. They should take care of you pretty fast. |

I reread your original post.
You say it only happens when the mag tube is full and the first round in the tube falls out the bottom of the action? That makes me think that you aren't getting the last round all the way into the tube and in front of both latches. That could be due to the spring/follower not compressing enough to allow room for the last round. Are you using 3" shells? Pay close attention when you load that last round. You should be able to push it a good 1/2" beyond the latches. If not, you might need to cut down the spring, change to a different follower or both. |
