I like to keep my ammo in .50 cal cans since they have a rubber gasket.  Shipping may cost you arm leg & firstborn to get there, but are there surplus stores yuo can hit up outside Schofield Barracks?

ETA: Cases or flats?  You may want to look at some 40mm belted grenade cans, maybe search for some artillery cans.

50 Cal ammo cans are water proof and air tight. They will do a good job.

Oh yeah... Cosmos strikes again...

Given your location, I would think hollowed out coconuts and pineapples would be your best bet.  Barring them, 50 cal and other ammo cans with a descent gasket like others have said are probably best.  Shipping to the Aloha state, though, will be big $.
