why does my box of 12g 2 3/4 sabot slugs say on the box....for use in fully rifled barrels only.


will it hurt a non-rifled?

i have no choke tube

Sabot slugs are designed for use with rifled barrel shotguns.

The whole point is, that it puts a spin on the slug for accuracy, but it doesn't create too much pressure and lead build-up with full size slugs.


You CAN shoot a sabot slug out of a regular cylinder bore shotgun, but it may not be as accurate as a full diameter slug.

There's no harm in using sabots in a sooth-bore, per se.
It'll just be near impossible too get any kind of consistent accuracy out of it.
