I have an 870 with 2 shell mag extension, I think its factory. I can only get 4 shells in. It seems they wont load past the extension. I have taken everything aprt and put it back together, I'm stumped.

Check to see if your gun is actually an Express gun which shipped without an extension.

Disassemble the extension and look into the front end of the gun's magazine tube.  If you see two steel tabs pressed into the end of the tube, those are known as the "Express dimples".
Those were used ONLY for standard 4 shot magazines and must be removed before an extension will work.
They can be most easily removed by drilling them out with a drill, then carefully polishing off any remaining burrs inside the tube.

If the "dimples" are not there, check the brand and assembly of the extension.
A genuine Remington factory extension has a separate coupling that screws on the gun, THEN the magazine extension tube screws into that.  The factory extension tube also has a groove in the extension tube.
Other brands have the coupling and extension made as a single unit.

If you have a genuine factory extension, install the barrel then screw the coupling on the gun finger tight, then give it ONE more "click".  You should be able to remove the coupling with just your fingers.
Then feed the spring and follower in and carefully screw the extension tube on until it JUST touches the gun's magazine tube.
Too tight and the two tubes can misalign and cause hangups.
Too loose and there's a gap between the two that will cause hangups.
Once the tubes are touching, install the barrel clamp with the screw passing through the groove in the extension tube.

I think I found the problem. I have a Scattergun Tech sling mount on the front (mounts between the extension and tube), it was creating just enough gap to hang the follower, or maybe the shell lip. Took it off and it loads up 6 rounds just fine. Kind of sucks though, I really like the sling mount.  Is there a simple fix for this or ????

If you REALLY like it you could file down the front of the barrel lug the thickness of the mount.

A better option is to mount the front swivel on the barrel clamp.
There are a variety of types, depending on the clamp.  Some can accept a side mount and others also a bottom mount.

If you have a factory extension, this should not be a problem:

Install sling plate.
Install barrel retainer.
Install extended magazine.

If, OTOH, you have a one-piece extension, then the plate could be problematic, although this would be the first time I've heard of one causing a signifigant hangup.
