hey guys, i just bought a 12g tristar tactical shotgun with an overfolder stock. I am VERY new to shotguns, i know how they shoot but i dunno the difference between mossberg & remington style or anything... it looks like there is two dove tail slots for sights on the reciever. i was wondering if there was something similar to trijicons red dot that i could mount on there. this isnt for a duty weapon, just a toy so i dont need to spend $400+ on the red dot.. i just want something small that'll fit between the overfolder when its folded. this is what i have: http://www.tristarsportingarms.com/product_cobra.html with the folder on the bottom of the page. edit: will this work? i know i have the two pins to take out the trigger... http://www.mesatactical.com/images/125.jpg |

hello. alot of shotguns come with the top of the receiver drilled out for a scope mount. if it isnt, you can have a gunsmith do it. i prefer the mount on the top, as the one you have in the picture are kind of tacky and will mar your receiver. you will have to call mesa tactical to find out if the mount will work on your gun. look and see if there are little screws on the top of your receiver. if there is, then you only need to by a universal mount. as far as red dots, you are going to have to spend some money if you want it to hold up. i bought a couple of the cheapies ( 40.00 at gander mountain ) it even had a picture of a shotgun on the package. the first one lasted 1 shot! the light wouldnt come on again. the second one lasted aproximately 4 rds before the lens fell out and the light didnt work. kirk |

i'm at work right now but i dont recall any holes or screws on thetop, all that is there are the two points, dovetails? for scope rings to clamp onto... no picatinny tho.. and i cant find a universal picatinny that clamps on.... thanks for the reply.. i dont mind spending a few bucks on the red dot... thinking between 50-150.... just not $400... |
