Im replacing the fore end on an 870. Ive never taken apart an 870 they way the directions are describing and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to do what they say to do????? 8. Reach into the bottom of the reciever. Depress and hold the shell lift latch. 9. Slide the fore-end forward and off the magazine tube. Sounds simple enough but I can't get it to work. I suspect that Im not finding the shell lift latch????? Pics, help, advice, links are welcome! Thanks in advance! |
| With the ejection port facing up, push up the shell lifter. On the back side of the receiver directly behind the magazine tube opening is a metal tab that holds the shells in. Push the front of the tab (closest to tube) in and hold. Then you can pull out the forend. |
Assembly isn't bad. Place the bolt assembly onto the action bars, making sure all of the slots on the carrier match up. Pull the forearm over the mag tube and line up the action bars with the slots in the receiver. The bars will only go in a small amount. Reach inside the receiver and push the right shell latch (opposite side of the one you pushed to disassemble). While holding this latch, pull the forend backwards. It will then stop on the left shell latch. Push that in just like when you took it apart, and slide the forend all the way back. |
