[ARCHIVED THREAD] - 922r Question

I just picked-up a Benelli M3 with an AT (88) date code. Since this was imported prior to 1990, does that mean 922r doesn't apply and I can put non-sporting features on it (ie: Pistol grip, folding stock, etc.)?
