What is/are the differences between the M1 and M2?

It is real simple.

The M2 is an improved version of the M1. The M2 has imporved choke tubes and updated barrel.

The trigger guard is enlarged, so you can shoot it with gloves and the trigger guard will not slap your fingers (some have said that was a problem...for most it is not an issue)

The best part of the M2 is the comfort tech stock. The comfort tech stock reduces up to 30% felt recoil.

The new stock design on the M2 works. I have both an M2 and an M1, and the M1 is a bruiser while the M2 is much more comfortable to shoot. Not quite as mild as something like an 1100, but it's an improvement.

is the M2 that much of an improvement(as far as recoil) over the M1........also will the M2 barrel work on an M1?   and will the M1 mag extensions work on an M2?

Yes, yes and yes

Recoil is much reduced, very comfortable.  Barrels are the same, mag extensions are the same

Not sure, I would think so, but could be wrong.  Don't have my M1 to compare anymore.

That is one gun I wish I could get back.

hmmm funny you say that, I have been thinking of trading my M1(ghost sights standard stock, the thing is amazing never one issue)  for the New M2(recoil with the M1 is not an issue for me....but hey benellis claim is up to 48% difference with comfort stock)   would you guys trade a perfectly good M1 towards the M2.....and no get both answers....dont need 2 shotguns, want to be the best I can be with one

I'd trade my M1 towards an M2, no question.

I say get both only because my M1 was a different configuration than my M2.  My old M1 had 18" barrel, ghost rings, pistol grip stock and mag extension.

This is my M2 below, more setup for skeet shooting.
