I own an 1187 Remington Tactical. Can someone explain to me the differences between the 1100 & the 1187, generally speaking?

I know the 1187 allows 3" shells, but I thought there were some 1100's who would take these too?????

Is there any difference in the gas/recoil sytem?

Thanks in advance!!!

I'm no Remington autuooader expert. Best I can tell you is they are very similar except for a few differences in the gas systems. Barrels will not interchange between the two models. Here is a link to the Manual from Remington with schematics pf both shotguns...

The 1100 magnums IIRC would not function correctly with anything except 2 3/4 or 3in. magnum shells, and were thus not very versatile.
