| I've seen several references to it concerning benelli shotguns. |
|
It allows a shell to be loaded in the carrier...so you have a shell in the chamber, a shell in the carrier, and however many in the mag tube. Pre-ban Benellis can ghost load, while post-bad models have to be modified in order to do this. Apparently Fish & Game didn't like the ghost loading feature. :D |
If it is what I think it is. It is possible for it to lock the gun up and the only way to un jam it is to dissassemble the gun.... Just be careful. |
|
If I recall, it's basically being able to load a single round into the carrier without ejecting another shell from the magazine. Most shotguns, as you pull the bolt, or pull the slide, will eject the chambered cartridge AND push a new shell from the magazine to the carrier in the same action. Ghost loading would be the same thing, but the shell is not pushed on the carrier. From here, you must load a new shell through the ejection port, then release bolt/push slide forward to chamber a round. It's mainly intended to be able to switch shell loadings mid-shooting. |
Here's how I do the ghost load:

| Here's a link to an earlier thread that explains the difference in bolt carriers that allows ghost loading. I'll post pics of ghost loading shortly, but the above written description is good. |
