Alright, it's time to retire my Browning A5 20ga. I want a 12 gauge, that can be used for both hunting and sporting clays/trap/skeet/ect... Basically, I need a gun that is very well rounded for all types of shotgunning sports. Here is my list so far... Beretta Urinka, Extrema, American (really any of these would be fine). Benelli SBE I or II. Browning Gold Series. I like the Browning because of the similarities to my A5. The A5 has lasted me a long time and I would like to continue with Browning if possible. I like the Beretta because of their reputation in the shotgunning world. It seems every time I run into someone serious about sporting clays they are holding a Beretta. I like the Benelli SBE because my old boss had one and it seemed like that gun just melted into my shoulder. The recoil was nothing and I shot it very very well. Of these, the only one I would buy used would be a Benelli. What are all of your thoughts on this? EDIT: Oh, my budget is around $1100 in case you were wondering. I would spend a little more if I fell in love with one of these, but it would have to be perfect. |
| I have a Benelli M1, and it kicks like a mule, as it's recoil, and not gas operated. A SBE would be heavier, and you wouldn't be shooting buckshot rounds, but the recoil would still be more than the other two. I won a 30" Browning Sporting Clays shotgun, and really like it. It's a bit long, and I'd have rather won a 26", but free is a good price. Recoil is very low, something to consider if you're using it for trap/skeet/sc where you'll shoot 100+ rounds. It comes ported, and has the very visible fiber optic sights. I'm not very familar with the Gold Series and what the difference is between that and the other Browning autos, but I really like the SC model. |
