Subject pretty much says it all: I've got 2 shotguns we've never fired, and would like to check them for pattern. How do I go about it? Preferably cheaply! TIA. |

Get some large sheets of white paper. I have a lot of leftover packing paper from U-Haul from the last time I moved and it works great. Attach the paper to some type of support, attach a target, draw a circle, whatever. Pick your distance, aim at your prefered point of impact and see what happens. I suggest picking up a variety of loads to see what works best in your gun. I hope this helps. Here is an even better explanation from a very experienced shotgunner: Dave McCracken on The High Road |
