STUPID REMINGTON why can't I have a bayonet lug, boooo remington
Would he look sooo cute with a bayonet?????? http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e320/Delta068/700.jpg |
MK1 Rem870 does.......too bad I passed up on one, still kicking myself over that! |

Looks like a 28" barrel with a 5+ mag extension. I'm not quite sure what kind of optics those are. If it doesn't have a side saddle, it needs one, plus a shell holder on the stock. Probably should add some mercury recoil reducers too (in/on the mag tube and one on the stock), not to dampen recoil, but to keep the whole ensemble balanced so you can hold it halfway steady. Maybe a bipod too/instead? |

Yep |
Elmer Fudd would be proud! |
Aha! Thank you! I was looking for something like that for this little fella' Appreciate it! |

If you look close enough (I'm speaking purely about the 590A1 - this is what this thread was about in the first place) you'll see the ring that has the bayonet lug is welded / permanently attached to the barrel, but also uses the magazine tube end cap for the hilt of the bayonet. So from this perspective the answer would be no on your question after view the Mossberg web site and catalog: "Does Mossberg make an magazine extentsion that accepts the bayonet?" |
But the stupid mossberg can't have a flash lite. Besides you who needs one when you can just shoot the sun of a bitch? |
DPMS makes a clamp on bayonet lug (for the AR15), you could buy that or a pre-ban FSB and dremel the lug so you could weld it onto your mag or mag extension, then I'd weld a piece of pipe or tubeing onto the mag cap, or end of the mag extension, that is were the ring on the bayonet would go around. I've thought about it before.
A mag tube is too thin not strong enough to mount a bayonet lug on. That's why Mossberg uses a ring attached to the bbl.
Now if you could use the bayonet ring off a 590 and attach it to an 870 bbl you may ok. You would need a really good clamp to hold the mag ext though. Oh yeah, make sure you use a factory Rem ext because the stepped end is made to fit a M7/M9 ring. |
My 590 weares a bayonet too just sweeeet!!! no pics right now maybe tomorow.
I spent the weekend drafting a double rail that acts as a barrel clamp but wraps around the bottom of the magazine tube and has the fittings for a bayonet lug. Gonna rapid-prototype it sometime this week.
So Remingtons standard magazine extension will accept the bayonet ring??? I bought mine with the 26" barrel so obviously it wasn't the express combat type one so I haven't looked into remingtons mag extensions, just aftermarket ones. |
The flash light and other accessories can be added with this rail.........M590AI |
Ya I've seen that before, cost to much $$, I drafted my own with a bayonet lug on it, cause i have an 870 and I can't seem to find the army's adapter for sale anywhere
Thanks though |
It's on my "to buy" list - It is actually two accessories rail -One on the right side and one on the the left, so it around $50.00 a rail........It's not too bad for me to choke down.......It will be very nice to add a flash light and a laser. |

How about this?
Surefire I had the bayo lug cut off to put on a dedicated light fore-end years ago. This would fit the bill today and you could keep the bayonet. I guess I need another 590 Cheers |
I love mine its a fun bayonet. |
oh you dick, you just had to rub it in
Where did you get that from, how much did you pay..... i wannnnnnnt ooooooone |

I know im a dick...thats why i had to show it off. but you probably have an 870....i dont. it was a recent private FTF buy. as to the price. put it this way, i could of bought a used 870 for the price i paid for this. an 870 will come along again soon. this mount i had to have now. if your serious about getting one and dont mind spending some cash i can get another. i have not seen these on the open market for a while. ive been searching for about a year off and on. |
