I am have a problem with my Mossberg 500. It does not happen every shot, maybe one out of every 20 shots. The gun is about 17 years old. I cycle the slide, round loads into chamber fine. Pull trigger, gun goes bang. Go to cycle the slide and eject the spent round but the bolt is locked forward. To release it I either have to push in the slide release or pull the trigger again. If I pull the trigger again I can hear a click, but it is not the hammer dropping, then the action is free to cycle. My friends 500 does exactly the same thing. Also it will do it almost every time if you don’t hold onto the foregrip when you fire a round. Other than this the gun is 100% reliable. Any suggestions? |
| if you really don't like the problem, get an 870. My suggestion would be to either pull the trigger harder or slap the tirgger back or when it does lock up, slam the forend foreward and then rack the shotgun. thay works for me, but what do I know. It happens to me every so often, by my mossberg is also brand new and hardley borken in. the action itself is rather tough compared to my other 500 which has never had that problem and the action is smooth as silk. |
