| I want a 13.5" 870 to have registered as an AOW. I want a specific pistol grip on this weapon, so I am wanting to know about having one built. Can a Title II manufacturer purchase a new 870, chop the barrel, install the PG, and register it as an AOW? Would they have to use a new receiver instead of a new shotgun? I have a couple 870s, but I know that to have those registered, I would have to pay the $200 tax. I want a plain jane Express, but with the specific grip, and the short barrel. If a new receiver must be used, are they available? How much does a stripped new receiver cost? |
| If an SOT manufactures it, it costs them nothing. If you manufacture it, it costs you $200. You definitely want to buy one already made. Also, if it has ever had a buttstock on it, it CANNOT be registered as an AOW. Your best bet would be to buy an AOW shotgun, then swap pistol grips later. |
I thought it was a violation to alter an AOW by swapping pistol grips???? |
