just got a remington 1100 and it comes with a modified choke. Can slugs be fired through a choke this tight? I saw that remington reccomends the improved choke for slugs.

From another thread:

Fully Rifled Barrel- Sabot slugs.

Rifled Choke Tube- Sabot slugs or rifled/foster style slugs, try both, use whichever shoots better in your gun. If offered for your gun use the extended rifled choke tube. Rifled/foster style slugs will lead up rifled barrels or choke tube. Nothing that a brush and #9 can't fix.

Fixed Choke Barrel- Rifled/foster style slugs. Improved cylinder or cylinder bore usually best. Ok to use in modified or full choke but never, never use in extra full, super full turkey or buckshot specialty chokes. MIKE.
