Got a question for somebody;
Charles Daly Field II 20 Ga OU.  I don't know much about this piece. My question is: Is it normal to have to toggle the safety on/off to fire the second barrel, and should the safety be off to select the barrel?
Any help would be appreciated.

Not normal to have to toggle safety to fire second bbl.

Can't answer the second.

I have a charles daly o/u. The safety/barrel selector switch is the same as the berreta, etc...the switch moves up and down (safety), and side to side(barrel select).
the barrel select can be moved with the safety on or off. the safety does not have to be toggled to fire the second barrel, it is a recoil opperated mechanism, hence only one trigger.
i have used my charles daly extensively and am very happy with it. no problems at all. mine is the field grade, so the checkering is stamped and not cut, the engraving isn't all that great but i bought it to USE and not to sit there and look pretty. the action remains very tight and mechanically it is a very nice gun. much cheaper than some other brands. i would recommend it, unless you are looking for something fancy (scroll work, extra fancy wood, etc..) hopes this helps.
