Picked up anew FNX 45 last Saturday at my LGS. I have the FNX40 and decided it needed a big brother. Took it out yesterday to try it out and roughly every third round it failed to eject and on the second mag it failed to lock back as well as erratic ejection. I cleaned and lubed it before shooting and am hoping it just needs to loosen up. My 40 didn't act like this but am wondering do I have an issue or just need to shoot it some more and let it loosen up a bit?

My 45 tactical hasn't done nothing but work out of the box.

This one shot great, softer recoil than my Glock 21's and I hit with it, just wondering about the hiccups. I did only have time to put 30 rounds through it and the last mag did better than the first. Weather here is supposed to be nice again tomorrow so I plan to give it a thorough testing then and see what happens. The thing is very tight and maybe that is all it needs.

What kind of Ammo?

I wrote a review on the FNX Tactical and had those issues when I put the can on it and was shooting PMC 230 gr FMJ
I broke it down and lubed it and it ran fine after that.
I put a bit more lube on it than I normally would have.

I'm pretty sure I've read people saying their guns don't like shooting 185gr ammo. I mean I've only shot 230's through my 45 with no problems.

I was shooting 230 grain Federal hardball.  I cleaned and lubed it prior to shooting but it was still very stiff. The last round I fired the case went straight back into my chest and  down my jacket.

I'd say shoot another 100-200 rounds through it see if it gets better if not, I'd be calling FN. Sure there's a "break in period" but it shouldn't fail almost every 3 rounds or whatever you were saying. I did exactly what you did cleaned and lubed it before i shot mine. If i also recall I'm pretty sure the manual said to not OVER lube your gun because i guess it can cause issues as well. I don't know what else could be the problem.

Mine did the exact same thing with Remington UMC 230 grain. Only other ammo I had with me that day was some nice looking reloads I had purchased so I said WTF and ran some of those through. Same  issue, probably a little worse. Very disappointed right off the bat. Took it home, tore it down, cleaned and lubed it up well. Next time out, maybe one or two that didn't fully eject out of 150 rounds. Third time out, flawless.

That's what I want to hear, It really is well built and tight. I'm thinking everything just needs to seat in. My FNX 40 was flawless out of the box, don't get the differnce, however the recoil on it is pretty harsh.

Mine ran the first 50 rounds of Speer Lawman great, other than the magazines being so stiff they would all FTF each first round when fully loaded. I followed the break in procedures and have had them fully loaded for three days now and they are already loosened up a good bit. Slide has been back on the gun the entire time too,

I did not clean and lube before the first round of firing.

You guys shooting reloads, did you read your owner's manual?

Reloads will void your warranty... I've only shot federal and WWB. Looking to shoot some steel and aluminum case through my tactical and see how it does. I think it'll do just fine according to other people experiences.
