Am I correct in saying that the only differences between the FN 45 Tactical and the FN 45 is the lenght of the barrel and its threading, the high sights, and the slot for a red dot?

Does FN sell extra barrels, in case you had a Tactial model, and then wanted to switch to the shorter barrel for carry purposes?

I fired my Tac model for the second time the other day, and was pleased not to be pelted in the head with fired brass like the first time.  I'd locked the slide back for a week to take some of the stiffness out, and while that may be an old wives tale, either that or just the cycling has gotten rid of the weak ejection.

Thanks.

The only other difference you didn't include was that the Tactical comes with all 15rd. mags. The regular FNP45s comes with 2 14rd and 1 15rd.

and the high sights are Trijicon night sights and the nylon cordura case to carry everything...yup, that and what you both mentioned...that's about it...

Now where do you buy a OEM FN barrel to switch out?

Get both!

You also get 2 more backstrap sizes with the tac.

If you are paying full price for an FNP-45 USG, the cost for the upgrades to the tactical model are WELL WORTH IT even if you have the slightest idea of suppressing it.  The cost to have those upgrades professionally done get to be VERY expensive if you insist on the quality of that FNH used from the start.

The FNP-45 Tac is a bad mother f'er.

My USG came with 3 15 round mags.

That nylon case is nice, any idea who actually makes it or where I can get one?

Eagle Industries made it.

My FN Tactical can be carried cocked and locked.  Is that the case with the FNP, or is the safey/decocker a different set up?

FNP 45 USG = Yes
FNP 45 Standard = No (decock only, like a Sig)

Another difference is the trigger assembly.

Why the different triggers?

Why the different triggers?

I don't know exactly.

But the MGW website says that they CANNOT be interchanged.  Perhaps a frame modification?

The Competition is supposed to have a more 'tuned' trigger feel - so since the Tactical has the same trigger it has a better feel?

Maybe one of the fellas up above who has both can answer.  I have the FNP-45 USG in FDE so I couldn't tell you.

Hmm I never noticed.  I will do some dry fire drills when I get home today and let you know if I can tell any difference.

Really, wonder if one could be fitted?  I'm wanting to buy another one, as I have a Tactical, but would like to go USG, but if the triggers feel that much different, maybe a Comp would be the way to go?  Than I would just change out the sights, the USG seems ready to go as is though?

Don't some of the FCG components need to be broken in order to be removed?  Maybe why they are not user replaceable.

Unless the parts or other parts are MOLDED into the frame then they are removable/replaceable.  [ IMHO!  I mean I have disassembled fuzes & fuze parts that are "NOT REMOVEABLE" ]

Notice there is less material on the side rails of the Tactical & Competitor trigger bars.

Perhaps that would interfere on the USG model or vice-versa?

I personally think the Tactical trigger "might" fit on the USG but not the other way around...

BUT - it could be a matter of dimensions (OAL / ID / OD etc)  too.

Sorry I have been busy with a move.

I just tried both triggers.  As far as I can tell they are both the same.  If anything the double action on the Tactical may be a little smoother.  That could just be a natural variance between triggers
