I have a plain jayne standard Mark II with fixed sights ( bought during the first month of the Brady days, interestingly enough).  Lately, I've wanted to wring a bit more precision out of her, and thought I could put on some adjustable sights.  I've looked them up, and can't really find out if the factory rear sight would fit my pistol, or only the bull barrel models.  Also, it looks like the fronts are the same, but would I need to switch out the front as well?

I'm partial to this Factory Rear Sight, as it would be the much less than a VQ model.  However, I can't find it in stock anywhere (not Midway, Ruger, or Numrich...).  Any ideas on where to get it?

This is my plinking, carrying in the woods, been used a lot, scratched and dinged shooter gun, not a platform for shooting tsetse flies off a bushman's nose from the Internation Space Station, so I'm not really interested in putting a bunch of cash into it.  Mainly I want to be able to zero to my ammo...  Thanks.

While it will fit the dovetail, the front sight will be too low as I recall trying it several years ago.
Somewhere it even states, "will not work on std. model"

Like the first responder said, I think it can be done but it also requires a taller front sight.  For the real answer call Ruger customer service...

I left the fixed sights alone on my standard model...much sleeker.
But I had to remove the front sight, grind some off the bottom, then reinstall it, redrilling the hole.
Yes, I could have just ground the top & reblued it but doing it the hard way looks unaltered.
It shot a bit low out of the box, now dead center on @ 50 feet using center hold.

I would recommend against installing an adjustable sight.  The MKII fixed sights give a good, crisp picture.  I never adjust adjustable sights between loads, so I don't see any disadvantage to fixed sights.

I agree, get your fixed sights tuned in and leave them. The adjustable won't work with the stock sight.
I stoned just a little off my front sight and re-blued to get it right on at 50 yards.
It's so sleek with the stock sights that it would be a shame to add the ungainly adjustables.
