A gunshop I was in today had a K-22 Masterpeice with some sort of target grips on it. They only wanted a mere $800 for it............

Some early ones bring that much in good condition.  The S&W section of www.rimfirecentral.com has some good info on the K22s.

I had a K22 with the target hammer and thin trigger. I paid $400 for it and shot it for a while. I decided it wasn't for me and sold it to a friend for $550. They are getting more expensive every day.

Hell, I thought I paid a lot for the Model 18 I just got or the Model 617 I just got.

$800 for a .22 wheel gun???!!!

Good luck selling that one, IMO.

It depends on version (mfg date) & condition.  Just like the Colt Diamondbacks some K22s are priced pretty high.    Ive seen early K22s priced over a grand.  Are people paying those prices?  Hard to say.

If it truly is a pre-Model 17 it could easily be worth $800. Depends upon the condition, box, paperwork, etc. All the S & W wheelguns have gone up in price, but I wonder if they are really that much better.  I can't see myself owning a revolver with a built in lock!

I had a chance at one of those for $400 a few months ago.

I'm still angry with myself for not grabbing it.

Dont feel too bad.  I passed on a Colt Python many years ago that was chamberd for 38 Special for $350 new in the box.  I read much later that it was a special run & only a couple of hundred were made.  The last one I saw online they were asking $1500 for it.
