What are the good mags to buy? Mine came with 2 stainless mags. One with and one without finger rest. B at the end of serial #. Anyone have trouble with "B' mags?

Mine came with 2 just like your, except they are blue.  I found some of the stainless ones at a gun show recently, but they wouldn't work in my gun.  The mag would load into the gun fine and I could load the rounds from it, but I wasn't able to pull the trigger with the mag in the gun.  I tried it before and after I removed the mag safety , with the same effect.

I have a bunch of the stainless mags, but IIRC mine are marked with the "A".

Mine are stainless, and the serial number ends with a "B". I havn't had any problems with either of mine.

the only difference in the A and B is the size of the slot on the top ...... the B's have a one inch long slot to help the shells stagger better .... the A's have only a 3/8 inch slot .... that is the only difference in them ...... the B's are just updated to help with some of the feed issues

I had 7 or 8 of the older NON-A marked mags, I called S&W up and asked them if they would exchange them... I sent them in and a couple weeks later I got brand new A mags with the finger grip instead of the flat ones I sent in.

Any charge?  Shipping, plus paid return shipping, I'm assuming?  (if so, how much was that?)

I paid shipping to them and that was it.  I just put it in a small flat rate priority box.

the "A" mags are known to cause problems for some people.  "B" mags are the ones you want.  I have a few "A" mags that I wanted to call S&W and try to get the "B" mags.  I still haven't gotten around to it.
