Anybody have any new recommendations for a small optic similar to he FF on my 22/45? I'm looking to get something small like that for rimfire steel challenge. Something that won't break the bank. I'm not looking for a bushel TRS style optic, I think they're too big.

Haven't shot long with it because I just purchased it. The Vortex Venom is what I mounted on my .22/45 and both my son and I are loving it.

i didnt want to break the bank either so i purchased this cheap-o red dot off amazon "Vector Optics Sphinx-High Quality Mini Red-Dot" to get a taste of shooting pistol with a red dot.

it has worked great so far, I opted to buy the Burris Fastfire Mount for ruger pistols and the mounting holes lined up perfectly.  I have astigmatism in my eye so i cant tell if the dot is super crisp, and zeroing the optic was a PIA, but once i got it there its held fine for over 500 rounds thus far.

if you like it and eventually want something a little more sturdy/quality i think bushnell trophy is $100 bucks, primary arms is at about $90, there are a few options out there

I spent as much as a FFIII on three lower priced units altogether and then my FFIII ended up costing me $500.00. In my mind sights are even with the trigger for importance on a hand gun and niether should be scrimped on. Myself I'd say replace the front sight with a "Fire Sights" front sight and fill in the embossed outline on the rear sight blade with white paint. Other than all black target sights using a six o'clock hold on a paper target I find this set up to be awesome and place it in front of any cheap red dot option. I would shoot with a fire sight front and save for a FFIII with Burris dove tail mount and who knows you may find that you are just satisfied with the the new front blade and white outline on the rear. JMHO.

I got lucky and Purchased an AR-536 for one of my AR's that was on sale at Cabelas in March and got a free FF3 in the mail in May.  It works great on my 22/45 Lite, that I didn't even own when I got the AR-536.
Maybe they'll have another promotion.
