My grandfather owns a .22 Rossi Princess which Is a family heirloom. Well anyways, he claims that when fired, it sparks from the hammer, or rear cylinder. I'm personally going to test it this weekend, or am hoping to, but before I do, I must ask. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on? I know if it was sparking out the front of the cylinder it would be spitting lead, but I don't feel like that's the case. Much appreciated for anyone who may have had similar issues or knows exactly what's going on.

Sounds like the timing is off. Cylinder not lining up with barrel.

Cylinder gap issue most likely.  Timing may be off a bit.  The older Rossis weren't noted for their quality craftsmanship.  Not that the newer ones either.
