Looking for some advice on my next purchase.  I have narrowed down the firearm to be either a S&W M&P22, Ruger SR22, or Ruger SP101 22.

The advantage of the SP101 is mainly the fact the you do not need to find/build up a decent mag collection.  You do however loose rounds (5 for the S&W and 3 for the SR22) in capacity.

The advantages of the M&P22 and SR22 is the additional capacity (13 for the S&W and 11 for the SR22), reloading time (assuming your other mags are already loaded), and weight of the loaded firearm.

I know all three have great reputations and will serve me well, but I’m looking for any input from people who have fired two or all three of the options listed.  What did you like?  What sucked for each?

I have shot a lot of rounds through all 3 and any of them serve quite nicely for a number of applications. Of the 3, the Rugers offer the best and most consistant accuracy, IMO.

If targets or hunting is the objective, the SP101 .22 in a good holster would be the best of the 3. If you just want to throw a lot of lead downrange quickly, the M&P does have the capacity advantage as you noted, but IMO, I get better accuracy from the SR22. I have nothing at all bad to say about any of them, they are all fine quality handguns.

Which one is "best" depends greatly on your intended use.

With the SP101 you get the simplicity, accuracy and reliability of a revolver which are great for a hiking/trail gun, plinking/target or hunting.

The SR 22 is quite a bit smaller than the M&P 22 which is the same size as a M&P 9 or 40.  Both are reliable and accurate enough for most any use.  The M&P 22 makes a great gun for practicing with a similar gun to your Centerfire personal defense gun.  Trigger time is really important in becoming a good shooter and the M&P 22 will be cheaper to shoot than 9 MM or 40.

If your concerned about size the the SR-22 makes a fine pistol.  My sister in law has an SR-22 which she really likes and is easily shot by people with large hands.

All boils down to how your going to be using the handgun on which to buy.  My personal choice would be the M&P 22 or SR 22 but those suit my taste.
