I just purchased a MP22 today. This is my first non-hammer pistol. It does not have a decocking lever. What is the best way to decock this weapon without dry firing it?

I do not have the .22, but on the regular M&P pistols, dry firing is the only way, I know of.

That is what I was thinking, but wasn't quite sure. Thank you.

This is true of ANY striker-fired handgun. Think about it: if you can't touch a hammer, how can you let it down? Obviously a striker gun doesn't have a hammer, but I hope you get my point.

I also urge you to minimize dry firing any rimfire. Nothing wrong with leaving it cocked for extended periods of time, it won't hurt it.

I try not to dry fire any rimfire weapon I am very aware of that.

Once or twice in a blue moon won't hurt a rimfire, IMO.
