Why is there no discussions on the GSG/Sig 1911-22 on this forum?  I have one and love it, there are several aftermarket parts for them...but nothing!

That's because you don't look a page or two back.

There has been quite a bit of talk on here about them. I held one today. I think I likey. How many rounds do you have through yours? What kind of accessories have you added?

I have around 6000 rounds through it so far.  I have added an extended guide rod, guide rod spring and thread adapter for my suppressor from www.gsgpro.com.  I also added Hogue grips and a back strap with a mag well but cant remember what brand (found in my parts box)  I am thinking on taking it apart and painting it but shoot it too much.

I'll bite.
Just got a SIG 1911-22 this week.
First range trip was meh. Expected with a brand new gun. Only ran about150rds. WW 555 from Wally-Mart.
Today I ordered the new guide rod from CW, purchased recommended CCI ammo, and some extra magazines.
Gonna give it a hard run next week when I can get to the range.
I like the gun except for the silly plastic sights and beavertail. I'll change those if the gun runs good.

Lets have a pic of that thing with your mods.

I would love to, but seem to have issues everytime I try to post pics.  Can someone help me do this?  Also the spring you cannot see, the guide rod I can only show you when the slide is to the rear and you cant see the back.  I guess you can see the thread adapter.

I can't find any dedicated GSG1911 thread either.  So OP change the title to the Offical GSG 1911 thread.

After the 72hr wait period I was able to pick up my GSG-1911.  This is the tacticool version, not the GI...but there was only a $10 price difference.  Comes with rail and threaded barrel over GI.  Bought it local for $360 OTD new from my local shop.

Anyways, I know some of you hate it, but it feels quality to me, no rattles, tight tolerances, mostly metal and has the right weight to it compared to a 1911 .45 I handled back to back.  I'll give some more feedback after I shoot it and the barrel Elmer Fudds in my face and peels like a banana.

Accessories it comes with (ok there are some tools I didn't include)

Shoots without ricer suppressor...but here it is with the fake can attached.  That cap is what lets you shoot w/o the can. Down the line maybe I'll get real one, but it's a .22 so it prolly won't make much noise anyways.

Field stripped it to clean before range trip.  Yeah it's loaded with grease from the factory.

I'll make a vid after I've put a few hundred rounds through it.

Looks good. Do they all come with a painted finish or what does it have on it?

I have a SIG 1911-22. Same-same as the GSG.
Took it apart to clean.
The factory guide rod on mine is metal.Feels like it is steel. It is the short version.
Are the rods that are breaking metal or plastic/polymer?.

It's all completely factory so far.  The only extra I bought was another magazine. They are kinda expensive though, $30 OTD at my shop.  Looked online and it was similar pricing so I bought local.

The factory ones are metal but kind of a zinc metal and prone to breaking which locks up the gun.  .It is definitely worth the investment to buy a aftermarket one.  It also prevents spring bind.

QFT

Installed the CW Accessories guide rod and spring today.
Hand cycling feels MUCH smoother.

Fired the gun yesterday.
200 rds CCI mini-mag 40gr solids - almost perfect. Had just a couple of FTFeed's.
100 rds Winchester Super X hollow point - quite a few FTFeed's. Mainly on 1st or 2nd round of a fresh mag.
100rds Federal blue box Wal-Mart  bulk 40gr lead solids. - Junk. Many, many FTF, FTE, etc. Pretty much useless in this gun.
This was with the factory guide rod and spring.
Will range test the new rod and spring tomorrow.

Does the guide rod really make improvements on jams or is it just simply preventative piece for when the plastic rod snaps?

I think it really assists in keeping the spring straight during firing which improves performance.  It also is good to have one you know is not going to break.

Had a range session with the new CW guide rod and spring.
Flawless 200rds. with CCI mini-mag solids.
Worked 100%.
Very pleased.

New to the forum.

I bought a GSG 1911 a few weeks ago. I replaced the front sight with a DP Fiber Optic Inserted Front Sight. I also installed a CWA guide rod/spring combo and CWA basepads on all my mags.
With CCI Mini Mags the gun is 100% and very accrate.
Oh yeah, I've already put about a 1000 rounds through it in the last 3 weeks.

Got a few thousand rounds through mine and really love it. Tight tolerances and shoots very groups even with plastic sights. Mine really likes the cheap 555 Winchester from Wally world.

Bought the GSG 1911 22 AD OPS (rail and fake suppressor) for my 15 Y/O son for Christmas. We only have around 300 rounds through it so far and it has had no issues, shoots good. The problem I'm having is finding a kydex or leather holster that will fit it. The rail is a bit over size, similar to a Tauras 1911 with a rail, and won't fit in any of the holsters that I have for my railed Kimber. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

mine is up and running again, orderd a replacement guide rod from gsgpro, and a new spring, they came in tuesday, than get home today and there is a replacement from ati, it only took 2 months, the replacement from ati is cheap and flimsy, just like the one that broke.

The CWA or the GSGpro guide rods are the only way to go...I ordered my guide rod/spring combo before I picked my gun...
I never fired the gun with the stock guide rod...

I just swapped mine out for the GSPPro one.  The guide rod in mine was steel, I tested it with a magnet.  It was short and had lots of mill lines.  The new one is much smoother.

You guys that did the swap, did you put the recoil buffer and little metal ring on the new guide rod with the new spring?

Yes. The gun should have the rubber bumper pad installed.

I have the gsgpro rod and spring. Honestly I notice zero difference in the pistols performance. I know the sticker breaks...but that can happen in 500 or 5000rds.
