Say you have a variety of .22 Pistols and Revolvers (and Rifles).

A few will prefer a clean, high velocity ammo (say CCI Mini Mags)...relatively easy to find.   Not terribly expensive, easy to stock up on.

But for the guns that prefer Standard Velocity ammo...what do you recommend?

Preferably something Clean burning, low residue in the barrel/chamber.      Something that can be used a lot without worrying about scrubbing after a few hundred rounds.

Any suggestions?

CCI SV comes to mind.

The Gemtech subsonic is supposed to be cleaner, but I cannot verify (although I have found it to group between CCI SV and SK Stk+/Wolf MT.

I have used both, both are good.

You CLEAN .22 LR?

Dirty but good accuracy....Wolf Match Extra..cheap and good plinker  WW DynaPoints.

Do clean whenever I feel like it..PatchWorm through the bores, toothbrush in action/trigger area..use a .22 brush bent at 90 degrees for a chamber brush. Real light on lube - Ronsonol for trigger groups and a final CLP patch through the bore. Every year or so use Elmer's Dri-Slide on rimfire semi-autos bolts. Wipe metal exterior with CLP rag.

Do get a little more serious on cleaning frequency with .17 HMR rifles which get heavy daily use when prairie dog shooting..clean at end of the day.

C/F another story.

Best wishes.

Should have directed the question a bit better.   I'd heard that CCI Standard Velocity is pretty good (reading some info on High Standard pistols....seems to be the flavor of choice for basic shooting vs. bullseye/match shooting....and they do comment that the frames can crack on some of the older pistols if you have a worn recoil spring and shoot High Velocity ammo).

Local shop has some CCI Blazer ammo...wasn't sure how that compared to the CCI Standard Velocity (.22 LR, naturally...not the aluminum cased center fire stuff).

Wal Mart around here has the Federal Bulk pak ammo for relatively cheap....wasn't sure how that compares overall to the other standard velocity stuff.

Thanks!

That's about all I use now in my MkII pistols.

Yeah the Federal Bulk is all I run through my non-suppressed 22/45's. About 20 boxes of it last year:

First answer nails it. With a brick of it going to $25 at Dicks, I find it very stock-up-able

The Blazer actually compares better to the Min-Mag. Basically Blazers are mini-mags (exact same velocity) without the copper wash. I like Blazers because of the price and velocity, I think they work well for conversions (like a AR-15 conversion or AA - Glock kit) but I have had some issues with excessive leading. Blazers are coated with something that is supposed to avoid that and maybe I got a bad batch but that lube hasn't worked well for me.

I usually like the Federal box because of the price.  My M&P15-22 rifle has never had one malfunction since owning it and will eat whatever I put in it.

The Mark III and SR22P are both newer pistols.  The Mark III was having issues for the first 300 rounds or so and would simply not strip off and feed the next round of Federal.  I attribute this to a breakin, as the last time I took it out, towards the end of the day it started to feed them more reliably.

The SR22 refuses to feed Federal.  It's still new, but even after a full day of shooting I had to constantly pullback the slide to feed the next round.  Switched to CCI Mini-Mags, and no issue.  Will see moving forward what happens.  May try to shoot only CCI next time, and then see if after fully broken in it becomes more reliable with the Federal rounds.

I think the CCI's are a more reliable load, while the Feds have inconsistent quality and seem underpowered at times.  You're also paying just under 7 cents a round for the CCIs versus about 3 cents a round for the Federal, so I'd assume twice the price would result in better quality as you get what you pay for.  YMMV.

You already like the minimags. It would be convienant if you also had luck with CCI STd. velocity.
I like em. They are a dry round but seem to be consistant. Clean.
Dynapoints are pretty good in short barreled pistol. Dirtier / cheaper.

cci standard velocity is all I see the bullseye shooters I hang with use, except for some of the high end guys with european guns using eley or fiocchi or lapua- but most of us won't be able to take advantage of the extra performance provided by the 8-10+ dollar a box 22's.

Federal Bulk Pack is "High Velocity". Good stuff for plinking but not to consistent if you are trying to make dime size holes @25yrds. I shoot buttloads of it every year. For Standard Velocity, I recommend CCI-Standard Velocity as well. Runs great through my suppressed Mk.II.

I and several others have used it in NRA Bullseye Pistol matches. My highest rimfire score was an 835 out of 900 using it.
I use it exclusively for falling plate matches. It is actually pretty accurate and very reliable. I usually have one or two misfires in a thousand rounds, which is acceptable.

I bow to the experts.

Found a local place (Dicks Sporting Goods) where I could buy a couple of boxes of 50 rds Standard Velocity to try it out.    They have bricks for $25, so not too bad on price.

The 'local' (along the way to work) hardware store has CCI Blazer (yes, it's CCI)...I stopped by there and looked at the cases today...they say "CCI Blazer .22 LR" for $170/case (not in the market right now, but it's a consistent stock item for them...and at that price it's almost the same as the Fed Bulk, and I can get 50rd boxes to try also...so they'll be the next purchase to test with.

Thanks!

Standard velocity ammo isn't as widely marketed as HV ammo, shame.

CCI SV is quite often over lubricated with little wax nubs on the tips of the bullets, really messes with my Mark II mags, my Kadet does better with CCI SV. As far as accuracy CCI SV shoots well, but not great in every .22 I own, plus it's not cheap, so I'm looking for an alternative.

Bought a brick of Wolf MT (SV) and it didn't have enough recoil to cycle my Kadet or Mark II reliably, plus it was really oily/greasy over the entire cartridge, messy.

Rem sub sonic is reliable and clean burning, but not match ammo either.

Unfortunately my rifles all prefer Velocitor and my pistols prefer Stingers. I think the Kadet can handle a steady diet of Stingers, but not the Mark II.

What this country needs is a good bulk SV ammo.

I like the CCI Standard Velocity , I run it in all my 22's when i what to shoot nice tight groups. When  out shooting for fun i will use
CCI Blazers can't beat for the price.

I think a lot of the SV ammo that is waxed or lubed is intended for bolt action rifles. The ammo I use in my Anschutz is too heavily waxed to use in my MkII. It gums that pistol up pretty badly.

The other thing about CCI Standard Velocity is that, from what I understand, it has more power to cycle the slide (Than subsonics) but with a short barrel like a pistol or SBR type it won't go supersonic.  Thus it's quieter.
