I'm sure this has been beat to death, but I can't get my search feature to work. I'm looking to spend under $400, and buy a reliable semi-automatic 22 lr. I currently run a glock 17 w/ surefire X-200 and I'm sure that it will be tough to replicate the feel of this pistol. However, I figure that the more rounds I can afford to send down range, the better off I'll be. I am not a fan of the walthers. I do like the rugers, as they are reliable accurate and inexpensive but I can't stand the way they look. But if that is all I can find that will run good, then I'll buy it. I don't want to have to buy one particular type of ammo to get this pistol to run.

Thanks for your time!

I find the. ISSC M22 closely replicates the Glock 19.  I do see the earlier incarnations did even moreso, before a lawsuit (as I've read).

Going in, I did my homework.  Most of what I've read is that it is in fact finicky.  The consensus is that they all run pretty close to flawless with CCI Mini-Mags (which isn't THAT painful, financially...or aren't hard to find).

I just got mine about a month ago and have yet to go to the range with it.  But I am definately looking forward to it.

ETA: I've been thinking of trying a brass Seattle Slug to bring the weight back to better replicate the weight of a full mag of 9mm as to .22lr.

Advantage arms sells a .22LR conversion kit for the Glock 17.  It just replaces the slide and magazine on your Glock and then functions exactly the same.

Personally, I think that approach makes the most sense if you are trying to maintain the same feel with cheaper .22LR training ammunition - you use the smae frame, trigger etc minimizing the differences relative to shooting a separate pistol. .

I would go with an Advantage Arms kit. Should be able to find one for $300 or so. They will 100% replicate (minus recoil sensation of course) the operation of your current pistol, will fit the same holsters etc......I've never regretted purchasing mine.

get a conversion kit and be happy.

but be honest.  IF you want a new toy, say so.

Great price on a G17 AA .22 Conversion kit Here. Not currently in stock, but they are great about letting you know when they get them if you sign up for email notification, AND I've never gotten any kind of spam from them. They also have spare mags at a great price, too.

So far, I've bought 3 of these kits from Ambient Outdoors for my different Glocks, and been very happy with all of them.
