get a dawson precision tool-less guiderod and dawson precision SNL plus 2 basepads with a mag brush as well. Check your ejector to make sure its retained well and strong and get rid of the shitty plastic curved trigger for an infinity aluminum trigger.
Otherwise they're bad assed guns. Out of curiousity how many rounds have been fired through it and how much did it cost? Also, i have heard that stock STI's that are blued have rust issues and guiderod issues. |

I'm not sure all of which you're referring to. Can you link me to those from the Dawson site so I can get a better look at them? |

Now it's perfect, fits my hand great. Caught this one in a steal of a deal too, been waiting years to get one finally. Haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet, though. You guys that have STIs already, share your experience. What's up with the rivet (looking) on the trigger guard, do all STI's have them??? |

It's a male and female screw that fasten the front of the plastic triggerguard to a lug on the underside of the metal frame. |

The 2011 grips and trigger guards are all one piece that bolt onto a 'lower reciever' that the slide then slides onto. The 1911 frame kits are standard kits and don't have that screw. Click to and see the 2011 frame kits. They are two pieces. ETA: when you get sidetracked for 20 minutes while posting a reply someone is bound to beat you to the punch. |

Toolless guide rod Mag +2 basepad I personally wouldn't bother with the extended basepads unless you're going to shoot competition. I like the way the 126mm mags flush fit with the frame. I also wouldn't bother replacing the trigger. The STI trigger is fine unless it's too short or long for your finger. |

ok the SNL +1 basedpads work. Dawson +2 basepads did not work with my 9mm major, caused salt shaker magazines.
Nothing wrong with the STI poly trigger. Never broke one yet. The tooless guide rod cost a hell of a lot more than a paper clip. My edge has seen a fair share of use. No rust, but then I know how to take care of my stuff. If you think the std size mag funnel is tight try a Dawson Ice. A arched Mainspring housing makes the ICE and a std mag funnel more comfortable in the hand. |
