I've been jonesing a officer-frame-commander-slide 1911 for some time now.

This role would be a carry gun, not just to call it a carry gun, but an actual carry gun.....
a role currently being filled EXCELLENTLY by a glock 36.

I'm not replacing the glock (I think it's 25% lighter than the CDP?) but want to complement it with a Kimber CDP II Compact model (on the EE).  When I want to tuck, I'll wear the glock.  Under a T-shirt or jacket, the 1911.

I rarely see compact size 1911's come up on the EE, and although I fantasize about having a custom one built, I'm never gonna be able to afford a ground-up custom build.

My questions are the following:
1. I've field stripped series II kimbers before (e.g. I know you have to release the grip safety to get the slide off), but never done a detailed strip.  How different is a complete strip with the grip-activated FPS?

2. Can I replace the trigger with standard triggers?  the FPS system relies on the grip safety, so any trigger will do, correct?

3. I don't think I will ever tuck a cocked-and-locked 1911 as I would a glock or DAO auto.  Anyone here carry TUCKED in condition-1?

4. size wise I have them (G36, kimber compact) as about even - am I off?
